market on main (finally)
I finally had a Sunday free to go to market on main : ) I feel like i’m the only Joburg blogger who hasn’t blogged about it! flip! (speaking of that. if you are a jhb blogger, please leave me a comment. We need to build a jhb-blogger-community. Dbn and Cpt bloggers are way ahead of us)
ok go. I’m going to let the pictures do the talking but just want to say that I had a lovely time and i’m very excited about the things happening in jhb cbd : ) I really love my city and love seeing an old part of town being developed into such an awesome area where new things are happening. Its in the beginning stages but I already feel like perceptions about jhb are changing : )

I recommend the Indian food / the ethiopian coffee / Twentytwo fashion / Be kind ceramics
These are some other places to visit in Fox Street

There some very nice coffee shops – Chalkboard and Pitter Patter (sp?) will have to go back and do a proper blog on them : )
summer sky tea cups & see through teapots
I had tea with friends this week and finally got to use two of the sweetest wedding presents Dyl & I received. My lovely sister & her husband found us this gorgeous Wedgewood tea set. They are such a pretty pale blue which matches my kitchen (and toaster and kettle) : ) the range is called ‘summer sky’ and its from the 1940′s! : )

we had lemonades (still left over from the wedding) and some earl grey tea in this awesome glass teapot (from Natalie – the tea drinking professional)

[Non wedding related] This milk jug (also gravy boat?) was given to us by Dylan’s gran. so sweet. I really like its pale green charm

we didn’t have these pretties. I found them while I was googling Wedgewood tea sets. but how sweet? I wish I could make a biscuit look so pretty.
knock knock
This is the business of one of the speakers/creative entrepeneurs from yesterday at Design Indaba. She was so funny and so brilliant! She has such a cute business of quirky paper products. Her name is Jen Bilik and you can check out all her things here. but here are a few to taste.

bowling in neon light with shoelaces tied tight
Two nights ago I went bowling with some friends. I hadn’t thrown a ball down a bowling alley in yeeeaars. I went from strikes to literally not knocking one pin down! But it was loads of fun. We went to Xtreme bowling on Corlett drive (I hate it when they leave out the e in extreme). That place is like a neon club (along with the trippy trance music) inside except there are no people dancing or acid for that matter. hmm. but it was cool anyway! (at least once we ordered pizza, started bowling and kindly asked them to change the music =) )

they have R10 games on sunday nights. so cheap. click here to book
design indaba (well.. simulcast)

Every year in Cape Town creatives gather for a three day conference to be inspired by some of the best creative professionals around the world. Due to popular demand this year they’re running a simulcast in Cape Town (for overflow) and in Johannesburg for the people who can’t get to Cape Town but still want to get a bit of Design Indaba glow. : ) like me. I was lucky enough to get a free ticket from my uni department for getting the top mark at the end of last year.
Today was mind blowing! So many different people from such different disciplines with ideas that are so forward thinking and problem-solving and inspirational. When I get my head around some of the ideas i’ll give you a proper review.
Anyone else attending? what did you think of day one? x
nice deals

I’m sure most of you know about these by now cause these things are flippin everywhere. Group buying discounts. but don’t be put off they’re pretty nice. Some are stupid like half price on a pony ride. but some are really cool like last week they [groupon] had a deal at Moemas (a super lovely scrumptious patisserie) where you only pay R37 and then you get R100′s worth of moema goodness. so we bought like 7 vouchers. (yoh!) They’re all random but there seems to be a lot of restaurant deals and hairdresser/spa deals, and they are city – specific. so its worth checking out! : )
here they are – Collective cow / Wicount / Groupon
day two. lisp.
I’d never heard of Lisp before this week but flip! what an incredible show! So fun and free and so rock and roll. Tiny shorts, neck scarves and fur. and beautiful Aldo shoes that models didn’t keep on very long.

after strutting down the ramp the models all took off their shoes and paraded/danced dow the ramp altogether.
Last two photos are mine, the rest are from AFI. x
