day two. wild fig
Absolutely stunning show. I loved every single piece. Think coy. pastels and greys. loose curls. socks with heels. sweet and feminine. that is wild fig.

This last dress was my favorite! So soft and lovely. I can imagine it as a sweet short wedding dress or perhaps a bridesmaids dress. Aw. I love it.

All photos from AFI. except for these last two which are mine.
They are launching their autumn/winter range at Salvation in Rosebank this weekend!

day one. suzaan heyns & errol arendz
Suzaan Heyns & Errol arendz @ The bus factory
Suzaan Heyn’s collection was incredible, the whole show was a performance. The models had insane hair and make up and were almost like mechanical beings, the one model (you’ll see in the first pic) looked a bit possessed but it added to the creepy frigidness of the style. Excellent work and exquisitely crafted garments.

I didn’t get amazing photos from my side view so here are some of my favorites out of the pro AFI ones.

and here some shots of my own.

I think this coat (above) was my favorite piece. so pretty.

Next up was Errol Arendz. these are a few of my favorite looks. His show was a slight anti climax after Suzaan Heyns incredible performance but the outfits were beautiful none the less.

joburg fashion week
I’m so excited about Joburg fashion week this year as it’s not just at a carpeted convention centre but at various unusual and edgy locations around Johannesburg.
From ‘The bus factory’, a massive old Newtown warehouse to Johannesburg Art Gallery and ending off with the David Tlale on Nelson Mandela Bridge. 92 models will strut on the Bridge in couture gowns, each model representing a year of former president, Nelson Mandela’s life. Can you imagine a more epic finale to joburg fashion week? I’m so proud of my city!
If you haven’t managed to get tickets, there might still be some available at computicket otherwise i’ll be covering a few of the shows right here on emmajanenation! : D so stay tuned and if you are attending… see you tonight!

aeronautical: the new era
I predict a post nautical era – aeronautical. ; )
I think it has something to do with my new obsession with airmail envelopes. I found a whole stack of amazingly faded and purely authentic old airmail envelopes in a little stationary shop in Kenya. They had a bunch of new bright white ones but I went and cleared out all their oldy looking ones! hehe. They must have been SO happy to get rid of them and I was soo happy to pick up hundreds for such a nice price!
Dylan and I decided to use them for our personal stationary for our friends. So I designed some little airmail inspired postcards. How cute are we? I love them!

what are you hiding under your butt dear?
I got this very sweet butter dish at Kamersvol Geskenke last year. I’m so scared I’m going to break the deer off the top so I havent actually started using it. It just sits in my kitchen looking pretty for now.

The groom & groomsmen

I LOVE these. Isn’t that grey suited gorgeous bearded man HOT!? : )
I think these are the coolest groomsmen photos out. Thank you again to Bruce & Nicole from Lamplightcollective. They were our button-clickers for the day. x Can’t wait to see the rest.
