Modo Mio is nice little Italian gem around the corner from us in Craighall Park. It's a small restaurant but very open and lovely. At night it is very cosy and romantic as you can see below. TIP : If you go now you will be welcomed on a carpet of Jacarandas.

Went there on Tuesday night - best Italian food I've had in Johnannesburg!!
But a warning: the place is not waterproof. There was a massive storm on that night and I had a drip directly over my head! Still had a lovely time!

nice venue. food is average at best but pleasant for a quick bite out. the owner / manager really need to stow his attitude. we were having a super evening until mark decided to take our order. he is condescending and rude. Rather leave it up to the waiter, he was friendly and pleasant, you can learn from him.

With a few tweaks this place would be my new favourite restaurant. bad: girls toilets were apparently horrendous and my girlfriend decided to walk to colony arms rather (that's saying something); the waiter showed me his hand when i asked if i could order wine and told me to wait; ordered sparkling water 3 times before taking one that was put on an empty table (presumably for us but as the waiter's head was up his own arse, he probably thought the empty table needed it more than us), manager used his hands to put ice in a glass after digging in his ear (i'm not too fussy on that but just pointing it out), never got offered dessert, never was asked how the food was which leads me onto good: my meatball pasta was lovely, well seasoned and of decent portion size relative to the price however some of my guests were left a bit disappointed but as they decided not to say anything - that is their decision. overall, it's the little things and yes, i'm nitpicking but it is a really great place that i'd love to go back to but those sodding waiters need to learn that silly rehearsed jokes do not make up for poor service and cleanliness and hygiene are of the utmost importance - especially when everyone can see everything.
