A while ago I posted about looking for a lovely wooden dining room table for our home. The search was long and tough and there were a few amazing ones way out of budget (the ones that we would go look at EVERY time we'd walk past that particular shop)...
Eventually and fairly recently we got wind of a two day massive sale at Weylandts from a friend who used to work there. We went there on day 2 and came home with this amazing trestle table made out of reclaimed Elm wood. It's flippin' heavy! 130kg to be exact but it's soo lovely and really adds a pleasing presence to our space.
I don't know much about all the different types of woods but on our travels we figured out Pine isn't the best long term option for a wooden table. Elm and Oak are probably one of the best we've seen. Elm is known for it's durablitiy and resistance to decay even in moist environments, Oak is also very strong and hardy (here you can find real oak furniture).
I just love a lot of wood in a neutral space. Here a few spaces i've pinned
Now I just need a home in the country with huge kitchen to put my Elm Wood table in! I love our little townhouse but I do dream of a place with bigger rooms and higher ceilings. mmm.
