celebrating the last days of summer
On friday night I had a big party for no reason in particular – we celebrated being young, being alive and the fact that we could still sit outside and not need a jersey. We drank delicious cocktail premix provided by Smirnoff, and I made way too much food.
We drank, we sang, we danced, we ate.. and all in all it was a lovely evening!
I also made a video, but it’s not done yet.
Thanks again to Smirnoff! x
The Makers
Thought I’d end off this crazy week with something really beautiful. Photographer, Jennifer Causey did this amazing project photographing “the makers” of things in and around New York. She photographs designers, artists, jewellers & distilleries but my favourites had to be the florist and Mast Brothers chocolate makers.

Little Studio. Nordic Happy design
Found this pretty nordic design studio yesterday online. I love their prints and cushions.
I’d love to have this Mountains & Valleys print below. It’s beautiful and vast, it feels like you could almost climb into it and be in the mountains.
mm. I love Scandinavian design.
I kinda look like a who from whoville
I’ve taken a sick day today because I’ve had some pretty bad toothache : ( turns out I don’t have any cavities, just an infection which found me with a swollen face this morning : ( I’m on antibiotics and going to the dentist again later today to reassess the problem. But I’m sitting at home, feeling pretty horrible and pretty sorry for myself.. this morning I woke up, looked in the mirror and cried my way back to bed : (
I’m trying to keep distracted with the brand new Frankie (I love wireless delivery to ipad)
Lots of new episodes from my favourite series, including parks & rec.
and of course lots of Pinterest where i’ve discovered my new favourite Tumblr called From Scandinavia with love. Here are a few of my favourites from this mornings pin-session.

the tallest man alive
The concert was amazing, just one of those concerts that sweeps you up completely. Things I loved the most were:
1. His brown leather boots and bandy legs
2. The way he made eye contact with crowd (we were in the second row and we had a few staring matches)
3. The way he handled the drunk annoying people in the crowd
4. The way he sang with his wife (probably everybody’s favorite part of the show)
5. The way he couldn’t take his eyes off his wife.
6. Impossible Trees
(These are a few of Dylan’s great pics from the night) and if you weren’t there – this is the duet he sang with his wife
fffinds # 3
I’ve found a lot of fashion lately that I really want to share but don’t really want my blog to become fashion overload – It can get a bit much so i’m squeezing it in here as a part of a few of my finds of the week. Hope you like.
1. Heidi Braids and Red lips in Alma Reuter and Franka Lederbogen for the Spring 2012 issue of J’N’C Magazine
2. Dreamy Double Exposures by You Should Take Care. They’re paintings. I know right?
3. Freya Beha Erichsen for FREE PEOPLE. This look book is full of beautiful clothes.
4. Farrow and Ball colour blocking in the home.
Great inspiration for anyone who wants to update their home with a simple lick of fun paint.
5. The Berlin home of photographer Magnus Reed. I’m so jealous of the simple, massive open spaces.
6. Local gal Jane Sews’ Leather shorts in an editorial piece, styled by Nicole Van Heerden. Very pretty ladies. I love these photographs (Be sure to check out all of Jane Sews instagrams – there are a lot of sneak peaks of her new A/W range!)
7. Rifle’s international greeting/calling cards – Bonjour! Hola!
8. and.. a nice DIY over at Design Love Fest (pretty much my favourite blog at the moment). I love this girl’s style!
Happy Friday!
ZNAK pull off wall decals
I’m started off the year with a major itch do “finish” my house. I feel like it’s well lived in and we’ve got everything we need but there’s a few things I’d still like to do decor wise to finish it off properly. As you might have seen on instagram I put up some of Mikado‘s lovely wall decals in my home which I love and get compliments for all the time.. but I still have quite a big wall in the house i’d like to do something with and been thinking about and looking for some rad wallpaper for a while. I found these via design milk this week and think they are pretty fantastic – but maybe more for an office/studio than a living room.
What do you think?
always in good company
After doing this post yesterday I was reminded of the nice heart shaped balloons over at In Good Company and decided to go get some for Vday and for an upcoming shoot in my lunch break. They’re only R5 each which is really a steal for how cool they are. I also bought this Pantone Journal in honeysuckle. I don’t really wear pink or use it in my home at all but the girl in me is really getting excited about this colour.
