Shine bright like a diamond

On Monday I was flown down to Cape Town for a very special event leading up to Valentines day. Some very lucky bloggers and I got to spend the evening in the Shimansky vault to learn a bit more about diamonds, and of course to try them on.

We were treated to an evening of spoilings, hair by Scar, make up and nails and an endless supply of sushi and pink champagne.

I have to stay I was pretty overwhelmed the whole night, the staff at Shimansky were incredible bringing us trays and trays of different sets of diamonds to try on. At one point I had 2 million rand on each hand. Yikes! My favourites by far were definitely the Tanzanite jewels, and if you go right to the bottom you'll see I tried on a ring identical to but much much bigger than Kate Middleton's ; ) only about R450,000. No biggie.

I got put up in The Westin hotel for the night where I was treated to one of the executive suites. From the moment I arrived to when I left they treated me like a VIP. When I got into my room I had a mini high tea waiting for me, and of course I got straight into my white gown and slippers and devoured it. I also managed to squeeze in an early morning swim in the pool on the top floor with an amazing view of the Harbour.

It seems like a popular spot to stay for tourists as it's incredibly central, well connected with bus services and has an amazing view of the mountain.
