While my house isn’t ready for a full feature yet, I do like showing off a little sneak peak here and there.
We STILL haven’t found things to put on our walls yet. I think it just feels so permanent and we haven’t found the perfect prints or art works yet. First world problems am I right?
We’ve been working hard at cleaning up and de cluttering spaces, so today i’m showing you our guest room and office space.
Marsel Roothman came to take a few pictures the other day for her interior portfolio. She took some lovely ones so I asked her nicely if I could use them in this post.
So first up is the guest room. We found these awesome double lockers at a second hand office furniture shop and painted them grey and yellow. I love how they make the whole room feel bright and welcoming! They’ve also been so great for storage, as we ripped out the old awful cupboards in this room. We just need a print or something hanging above the bed, and I think it will be complete. (This room used to be a store room for all our junk for a while so i’m so happy that it’s made a bit of progress).
Moving onto our workspace. Below you’ll see i’m standing at the entrance to the office. It opens up really nicely onto the garden letting in lots of fresh air and light which is nice in summer but a little bit chilly now that it’s cooling down!
It’s a very simple clean space. Dylan and I started out with separate, quite bulky desks that didn’t really work with the space, so he built a long white surface (made from a kitchen counter, and a trestle) against the one wall so we could both work on the same side, and use the other side for storage. I like it so much because the room feels so much bigger and you can’t see any cords or wires – it’s just white and clean. We also added a wooden shelf above our desk which has been a nice place to put our old cameras and other things that are nice to look at. (I will do a full workspace post soon soon).
This is my workspace below. Dylan works a little down to the left, and Zara (our cat) usually sits/sleeps on a blanket in the middle. It’s the only way to keep her off our keyboards!
Lastly, a few more nice pictures Marsel took in some of the other rooms in my house.
Eggs. My favourite breakfast.
