Girl Bosses #2

Garniche girls

YAY! Another edition of Girl Bosses!

It’s such an incredible feeling seeing your dream job become something real. From an idea, and a whim… to actually quitting your day job… and perhaps changing paths entirely to what you’ve done or studied before.

Here is another set of 5 hard working women who have built something from scratch to something tangible and thriving. From a creative business developer to a couple of creative business owners, these five are another set of inspiring Girl Bosses and I salute you!

I salute you for those late, lonely nights. To the sweat, tears and the hustling.

Amy Venter.

With Jane Sews, Amy sought out to create uplifted staples and timeless pieces that are suitable for all seasons. The small run collections are crafted from high quality natural fabrics and are both functional and easy to wear.

“Linking arms with other local makers has enabled Jane Sews to be part of building into community. It has also allowed me the privilege of sharing this creative journey with other tradesmen while ensuring the integrity of the finished product. This is a story sewn by honest hands speaking to a simpler way of living. My greatest wish would be that your Jane Sews piece finds a treasured place in your wardrobe”.

Garniche girls

Clarise and Natja.

Clarise and Natja make up Garniche. A signature styling and event coordination company. They are based in Johannesburg, offering a range of consulting, styling and coordination services, mainly within the wedding, food and lifestyle industries. They are inspired by beautiful spaces, the natural elements of life and amazing photography. Go look at what they’ve done so far. These two have the best taste and are so talented!

Natasha Clarke.

The Birdhouse is a Social Media and Digital PR agency based in Cape Town. Whatever the budget, everyone is welcome and appreciated at The Birdhouse.

They also specialise in training for newbies in the industry. What started out as a one-gal show has quickly grown in to a small team of little birds who share Natasha’s vision.

“You CAN sit with us and there’s plenty of room. Let’s have some fun!”

M.STUDIO | Picture Me&U

Mariaan is a graphic designer and photographer based in Pretoria but works with clients from all over the world. She specialises in branding, wedding and event stationary, and has her own online shop full of beautiful things (go over to shop and a paper party!).

She also takes beautiful pictures with her boyfriend over at Picture Me&U.

Nadia van der Mescht

Creative Business Developer

Nadia is a creative consultant, specialising in creative business development. “I often get quizzical looks about what that actually means. Well… I work on a myriad of creative projects for various clients and brands, ranging from styling shoots to designing blogs, arranging press features, social media management and business planning. My work deals directly with independent business owners to build their brand and teach them the skills they need to create the business of their dreams. Through my one on one consulting sessions through to my workshops I aim to empower creatives!”
