I found this awesome old "swing dancing" instructional video on youtube this week. Why don't people dance like this anymore? I want to open a club where it's all about swing dancing... now I just need to learn how.
Anyone know any cool instructors in Joburg?

I'm sitting with Dylan in a coffee shop drinking R10 cappuccinos after a crazy weekend of shooting. My head and my body feel tired, and verging on flu like symptoms so i'm taking today off and i'm not going to feel guilty about it.
I quickly ran out of the puny 20 mb of free internet from the coffee shop, so I started looking through a couple of our travel albums on my desktop when I came across this awesome picture of when Dylan and I stopped to drink coffee in Lake Como.
We stopped at a tiny town, had the cheapest cappuccino in all of Italy (90 cents) and took in the incredible view. It was only a few months ago but it already feels like a faded memory, which made me sad, so I stared into the photograph for longer and tried to remember exactly how I felt when I took it.. how awestruck I was by the colour of the lake and the dramatic mountains behind it. The cute Italians going about their weekend and tanning on the bank. Our delicious cappuccinos and the adventure ahead.
I loved that brief moment, and remembering it made me incredibly grateful. Grateful for the 'faded memory' of an awesome adventure, but also realizing i'm on another great adventure right now.

Hey guys, I'm looking for a new home for my trusty Olympus Pen. I love this camera so much I thought i'd offer it to my readers first before resorting to classifieds.
It's a few years old, but it's in good condition and still takes awesome pictures. The micro 4/3rds sensor and optics still beat most happy snap cameras and you can change the len's on them too.
Included is: Olympus Pen E-P1 (don't confuse with the cheaper E-PL1)
3 x batteries
Retro leather pouch (top of pouch not pictured)
4gb Memory card
Olympus - 14-42mm F3,5 - 5,6 lens
Optical View finder VF-1
I also have the amazing Panasonic 20mm F1.7 lens (with box, pouch and filter) which was our standard lens on this body (beautiful depth of field and pin sharp!). You can't buy this lens in South Africa but look on international stores for reviews.
This is going for R2499.
Or you can take both for R4999 (R500 off!). If you look at what all of these things sell on ebay you'll see this is a sweet deal.
Email me at email@example.com if you're interested. (Pick up in JHB, or courier for a small additional fee)
Click here to see examples of some of the adventures i've taken my Pen (+Panasonic lens) on.

If you're ever on the road from Joburg to Durban, and you see a sign for Van Reenen's pass take a sharp left! There's a little general dealer there that will blow your mind.
We shot a wedding on Nottingham road this last weekend and on a whim stopped there to show some friends. There's one little road in this "town" if you can call it that, with a very dodgy hotel called "The Green Lantern" (It's bright green, you can't miss it!). Right at the end of the road is "the general dealer", where you can buy chappies and cokes but also a whole treasure trove of old things. I could have taken a lot more home with me, but settled on a few awesome items.
Firstly I found that very cute blue dress at the top. I just loved the print, the pleats, and the collar : ) it definitely needs a few alterations but I think it's going to be a great travel dress for Europe as the material literally doesn't crease! Next I found this leather medical bag which I absolutely loved, even though it's missing it's "inner". I'm still debating whether it's too big for an everyday kind of bag, or if I should keep it as an over night/weekender bag. What do you think?
Below I found these bright red cocktail stirrers for our bar cart, a little anchor bell and nice old copy of The Great Gatsby with a lot of "notes" inside ;). I just loved going through them and seeing what the previous owner underlined. Beautiful phrases like "bright night with wings beating in the trees" and "silver pepper of the stars".
I haven't thrifted in a long time but that was a really good haul!
So remember to pop in if you're driving down to Durban anytime soon, and let me know what you find if you do!
