Croft & co

MONDAY 25 FEBRUARY, 2013  /   COMMENTS [2]

Previously a men's luxury gift shop, Croft & co has become a wonderful cosy coffee shop to spend a morning in. They have delicious Lavazza cappuccinos, a nice selection of breakfasts and sandwiches, and free Wifi. They also still keep stock of a few nice gifts for men such as cigars, knives and wine.

It's also a great place to have a G & T or glass of wine on friday afternoon, they're open at 6:30 am for breakfast and lunches but stay open a bit later on friday evening (when they serve Prego rolls).

Find them at:

66 Tyrone Avenue, Parkview, Johannesburg.

Try: Voodoo lily Cafe

MONDAY 28 MAY, 2012  /   COMMENTS [1]

This weekend I was invited to try out the lovely Voodoo Lily Cafe by Heidi & Beth. It's a wonderful hidden gem in the suburb of Birdhaven (right by Illovo), Johannesburg. We headed down there for a lazy Sunday breakfast and were welcomed by such an awesome atmosphere. The customers were pouring in, soaking up the sunlight, the coffee was brewing, the delicious meals were coming out every 5 minutes... It felt like the weekend.

The shop is a beautiful light clean space, full of a lot of interesting and delicious organic and fair-trade things to buy, and delicious freshly baked goods to consume and take away.

Very delicious and interesting combinations. We had the most incredible French toast, and poached eggs (they're hiding under the salsa).

Below some of the nice things they have for sale, we indulged in Brie, Rose & Pistachio marshmellows and some Fine & Raw Chilli chocolate.

Another thing about this cafe which is so striking is firstly how passionate they are about organic, locally sourced products, and secondly how much they give back to the community. Below you can see what they're involved in, and besides these they also empower their employees to achieve their dreams (see the glass jars).

Meet the lovely owner Beth, who was greeted by name by regulars and is an all around nice person!

There are so many delicious things on their menu, I can't wait to go back and try everything. See their opening hours below.

Cnr St Andrew street & Wrenrose ave, Birdhaven (opposite Wanderers Planet Fitness)
