macaroons

undomestic goddess: macaroons

happy to announce that my macaroons didn’t flop on a second try : ) but came out rather huge! and the outer shell wasn’t as smooth and shiny as Laduree’s.. but they still tasted great with enough sweet filling inside.. mmmo.

here’s the recipe if you want to try it out! x

Macaroon making mission

If you follow me on twitter (no? follow here!) you’ll know i’ve been on a major mission to perfect macaroons (or Macarons, as the french like it spelt). I’ve dismally flopped 3 batches but I won’t give up! Noo sireee.. I went to Le Patisserie, picked up a few for tastes and inspiration and even bought a book at CNA all about Macaroons. So today I’ve separated my egg whites in order to ‘age’ them a bit. (Apparently it helps) and this weekend i’m going to try again : ) win or fail .. i’ll post the results of my escapades on monday!

Eiffel Tower+diamond ring=happy me!

Ok, so I know I have millions of other posts waiting to happen but this one is pretty important.

After an early morning breakfast picnic by the eiffel tower, dylan got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! and I said YES! :) (obviously) haha. he even put a timer on his camera to capture the moment so this first photo is my totally unadulterated surprised face!

Afterwards dylan took me shopping on the champs elysees for a new dress so we could celebrate the evening in style at a fancypants restaurant called il vino (more to come on the eve in a later blog)  We had such a nice day shopping, drinking espressos at a real french cafe and eating macaroons from Laduree.
